Stanley places first in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG — The East Texas Junior Golf Tour finished up its regular season this past Thursday at Princedale Country Club in Pittsburg. All the tour members were competing to earn a spot in the Junior Tour Championship held at Mount Pleasant Country Club on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Clark Cooper of Sulphur Springs finished sixth in the 11 & Under division, finishing with a score of 56. Sarah Washburn, also of Sulphur Springs finished 10th. Alex Hammonds from Atlanta won the division finishing 1 under par, with a total score of 35.

Isaac Stanley from Sulphur Springs earned a narrow victory in the Junior High Boys division. Stanley finished two strokes ahead of Landon Weaver of Mount Pleasant and ended the round with a score of 107. Charlie Yantis of Pittsburg scored a 124.

Nobody else from Sulphur Springs placed in the event, but Matthew Peterson of Mount Pleasant won the High School Boys division by an astounding 11 strokes. Peterson finished with a score of 68. The next closest were Brady Sisk and Sam Sloan, both of Mount Pleasant, who shot a 79 and 85, respectively.
