Cumby to begin district play next week

Body

Both the Como-Pickton Eagles and the Cumby Trojans were off this week with a bye. The Eagles entered the bye week with a record of 1-2 while the Trojans sit at just 0-1.

COMO-PICKTON

For the Como-Pickton Eagles, it has been an up and down year to this point, opening their season with a 17-0 victory over Simms Bowie. The Eagles were led by running back Cameron Ray who had an impressive 189 yards rushing on 25 carries.

Since then, the Eagles dropped a pair of games, losing to Rivercrest, 28-12 and being shutout against Honey Grove, 12-0.

Como-Pickton hope to get back to .500 next week in their homecoming game against Wolfe City. Wolfe City is 3-2 on the year with wins against Paris Chisum, Prairiland and Alba-Golden. Wolfe City lost their most recent match against Rivercrest, 36-14.

Kickoff for the homecoming match between Como-Pickton and Wolfe City is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

CUMBY

It has been a frustrating start to the season for the Cumby Trojans, who have managed to play just one game so far. Battling with COVID-19, the Trojans were forced to miss their first two games of the season and have since had to cancel other games.

Their one game of the season so far was a 27-12 loss to Santo on Thursday, Sept. 10. The Trojans look to begin district play Friday with a road game against Boles. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Cumby has just two home games on their schedule, the first of which will be on Oct. 23 against Clarksville. Their final home game will be against Detroit Nov. 6 for their senior night. Both of those games are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
