COMO — The Como-Pickton Eagles fell to 0-3 on the season with a 42-6 loss Friday at home against Whitewright.

“Even though we didn’t win, I can tell by the film that we are getting better. We were one block away lots of times from having really big plays on offense. I am proud of the way our kids played hard through the negative turns of the game. Our kids work hard, and we will continue to get better each day,” said Ronnie Green, head football coach.

Cameron Ray led the offense with 14 carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. Caemon Wilburn picked up 54 yards on 16 rushing attempts.

Felipe Marquez was a force on the Eagles’ defense with 10 tackles, with one stop for a loss.

Other top tacklers were: Jackson Monk, eight; Braden Miller, seven; Juan Alvarez, Logan Williams, and Hunter McPherson, four each; Wilburn, three and one for a loss; Bryan Cruz, Jhonathan Mejia and Kade Kaslon, two each; and Ray and Perez had one tackle each.

The Eagles play at Over-ton, Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
