HONEY GROVE—The Como-Pickton Eagles traveled to Honey Grove Friday for their second district game of the season. Both teams entered the game with a winning percentage of .500, with Honey Grove at 2-2 and the Eagles at 1-1.

Despite a huge game from running back Cameron Ray, the Eagles struggled to find their offense, losing the game 12-0. Ray rushed for 132 yards on 21 carries, averaging over 6 yards per attempt.

Jackson Monk had a solid game as well, rushing for 33 yards on seven attempts and catching one pass for 20 yards.

Monk also played a huge role on defense, tying for the team lead with 10 tackles, three of which were for a loss. Braden Miller also had 10 tackles in the 12-0 loss, as well as one pass breakup.

The Eagles, who don’t have a game this Friday, will have an extra week to prepare for their homecoming game against Rivercrest on Friday, Oct. 9. Como-Pickton will hope to get back to .500 in that game.

The Eagles will have just one more home game after that, which will be Thursday, Oct. 22 against Cooper for the senior night. Both of those games are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
