The All-District awards for District 24-A were announced after the Saltillo Lady Lions were knocked out in the in the Regional Finals round of the playoffs by Dodd City. Both Saltillo and Sulphur Bluff had a number of players who were awarded for their success this season.

A pair of seniors from Saltillo, Chandler Bain and Anna Reeder, finished in a tie for the MVP award. Both Bain and Reeder played a huge part in the Lady Lions' success this season.

Both Offensive Player of the year and Defensive Player of the Year were taken home by Saltillo players as well. Kristina Wade walked away with the Offensive Player of the Year, providing a reliable 3-point shooter for the Lady Lions this season. Brittany Peeples was named the Defensive Player of for her consistent play on the defensive side of the ball. Coach of the Year went to Bill Giles who helped lead his team to a a perfect 12-0 record in district play.

First Team All-District included:

Senior Paisley Kastner, Saltillo

Senior Maddy Smith, Saltillo

Senior Jada Wade, Sulphur Bluff

Senior Alley Collet, Sulphur Bluff

Junior Skylar Stanley, Sulphur Bluff

The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears had a very strong season as well, going 9-4 in district play and finishing in second place in the district. The Lady Bears made it to the Regional Quarterfinals after defeating Campbell 49-36 and Grafrod 49-32 in the first two rounds of the playoffs. In the Regional Quarterfinals they ran into No. 1 Dodd City and weren’t able to advance to the Regional Semifinals.

Sophomore Julianna Giles, Saltillo

Sophomore Allie Lane, Saltillo

Junior Bailey Neal, Sulphur Bluff

Junior Tori Raine, Sulphur Bluff

“I’m extremely proud of our team! When your team has success, the individual awards come with it,” Saltillo head coach Bill Giles said. “Each one of the girls put in a tremendous amount of time working  on their game outside of practice each year. During practice they bought into practicing hard against each other, and that also aids in improvement.”
