CUMBY — The Cumby Trojans advanced their football record to a perfect 2-0 for the season Friday. Cumby scored a 22-13 win over Celeste in a non-district game play before a large crowd at Frazier-Lawrence Field.

“It is great to come out of the game 2-0. Celeste is a great program, and they do a great job. On defense, we played great all night. I can’t be more proud of how we kept fighting. We have a special group this year. They play hard, and they play together. We got the win without playing great offensively, but we played well enough to get the win,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach.

Jacob Demidio paced the Trojan defense with eight tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Justin Demidio turned in six tackles and forced two fumbles, and Colby Lindsey recorded seven total tackles.

The game was scoreless at the half with the Trojans getting in gear for three second half scores.

Jacob Demidio rushed 11 times for 137 yards, and two 2-point conversions.

Quarterback Cameron Scott ran 17 for 119 yards and three scores. Max Wippler had two carries for 17 yards.

Scott completed 6-of-13 passes for 59 yards. Braden Porter snagged three passes for 33 yards, Wippler caught one for 25, and Fabian Camargo and Justin Demidio each had one pass reception for 1 yard.
