Sulphur Springs players started their first week of football practice with vigor and enthusiasm.

Greg Owens, Sulphur Springs head football coach, said heat was not really a factor, as the team took the field under scorching conditions.

Frequent water breaks and rest sessions were the rule during Thursday workouts that started at 6 p.m. on the outside practice field.

The junior varsity and varsity conducted workouts on one field. Teams are drilling for the upcoming opener set Aug. 30 at home against Frisco Wakeland.
