Both Como-Pickton and Cumby were able to participate in scrimmage action Friday while the Wildcats will take to the gridiron on Thursday.

COMO-PICKTON EAGLES

The Eagles took the trek north to Pattonville competing in a dual scrimmage against Prairiland and Maud.

Both the junior varsity and varsity saw football action.

Ronnie Green, Como-Pickton first year head football coach, said he was pleased with results.

“We did well overall. We scored once and also got scored on. We had lots of bright sports to build on offensively. We did move the ball and had first downs. Our defense played well too,” Green said.

CUMBY TROJANS

The Trojans were also on the road Friday in football.

Cumby lost 1-0 at Blue Ridge.

“We gave up one big play play for 20 yards and it was the only score of the scrimmage,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach.

“We only allowed three first downs on defense and 35 total yards. Offensively, the Trojans showed some good signs. But our offense wasn’t in rhythm,” Dracos said.

Standouts on defense were Colby Lindsey, Jacob Dimidio and Jackson Hughes.

Quarterback Cameron Scott scrambled well but was limited with plays whistled dead in the scrimmage format.

“We didn’t want to take a chance of getting someone hurt,” Dracos said.

Cumby standouts were:

Elijah Pahcheka, Zain

Strickland, Fabian Camargo, Aiden Wenrich, Logan Butler and Cristian

Vizcaya.

“I am very excited

about how we looked overall in the scrimmage,” Dracos added.

Especially after spending the first week of football practice pounding on each other under sizzling outdoor conditions in spirited practices.

The Leopards are under a new coach due to the retirement of Steve Wells.

Klint King, a 2002 SSHS graduate. is the new L-E head football coach.
