Cumby and Como-Pickton will be in tough non-district gridiron action Friday.

CUMBY TROJANS AT TRENTON TIGERS

The Cumby Trojans trek to Trenton for a 7:30 p.m. road game Friday, Sept. 20. The Trojans, 2-1 for the year, at 9-point favorites over the Tigers.

Trenton has a 3-0 record for the year. They have won games of Detroit, Inspired Vision and A-plus Academy by lopsided scores.

Cumby is coming off a 35-22 home defeat at the hands of Wolfe City. They opened the season winning two games.

“Trenton has a good defense and a solid offense. They are playing well right now, and it looks like we may be playing our first wet game of the season. We are hoping that the weather won’t play a big factor in the game,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach.

COMO-PICKTON EAGLES AT OVERTON MUSTANGS

This is the something-has-to-give game.

Como-Pickton plays at Overton for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in a battle of winless teams. One of the teams will get the chance to taste sweet victory this week.

On Sept. 13, Como-Pickton fell to Whitewright, 42-6 at Ron Heflin Field. Overton lost 16-14 against Evadale last Friday night.

Overton, a team picked last in the 10-2A, DII district race, has lost to Carlisle, Union Grove and Evadale; therefore, Como-Pickton is tabbed as a 20-point pick in statewide football ranking services.

“Our practices always go pretty well; our kids work hard. Overton has a good back that we have to contain. I think we have more speed than they do,” said Ronnie Green, Como-Pickton head football coach.
