RIVERCREST 34, COMO-PICKTON 14

BOGATA — The Eagles played on the road against district power Rivercrest, taking a 20-point loss.

“I am very proud and impressed with the way our kids are playing and the effort they’re putting in,” said Ronnie Green, Como-Pickton head coach.

The Eagles close out district play Friday, Nov. 8, hosting Wolfe City. It will be Senior Night for Como-Pickton.

CUMBY 34, TIOGA 6

It was fun night for home-standing Cumby, as they picked up a win in district play against Tioga at Frazier-Lawrence Field on Senior Night.

The Trojans went to 6-3 for the year and second place in the district race.

“The players came out for Senior Night and played their tails off. It was a fun game, and the kids will remember it for a long time. For the first time in school history, this group of seniors has made the playoffs all four years. They got to close out their games in Cumby as winners,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach.

Senior running back/quarterback Cameron Scott paced the team with 20 carries for 182 rushing yards, two touchdowns and one 2-point conversion.

Jacob DeMidio had an outstanding game with 112 yards on 17 attempts and one score. Gizmo Arellano also scored; he picked up 38 yards and two carries.

Scott completed 5-of-10 passes for 39 yards, one touchdown and one 2-point conversion.

Demidio had one reception for 26 yards, Max Wippler caught a 10-yard touchdown pass, and Braden Porter had a reception for a conversion.

On the defensive side, Tyler Kirby was tops with nine tackles, two sacks and one tackle for a loss. Justin DeMidio and Aiden Wenrick recorded eight tackles each, Colby Lindsley had seven tackles, Jacob Demidio had six tackles, a sack and an interception, Keagan McCollum had five tackles, one sack and one tackle for a loss, Jackson Hughes turned in two tackles and a sack, and Wippler picked off a pass.

“The team came out and played well and with a lot of passion. It was one of the first times that I felt like the kids were having fun and just playing our football. We came out of the game healthy, and the field took the beating pretty well as well. We are in a good spot right now,” Dracos said.

“We are second in district, and we are going to have a chance to make a run in the playoffs. You can’t ask for much more than that. We go to Era on Friday. They are a physical football team and play smash mouth football on offense. They are under center mostly, and their quarterback is a good player. We have to be disciplined and stop the triple option well. Defensively, they are physical up-front and play a fifty defense. Our offensive line must do a good job being dominant at the snap of the football. When they do that, it makes Cameron Scott and Jacob DeMidio look just about unstoppable,” Dracos added.

The Trojans complete the regular district schedule Friday at Era.

The Hornets are winless for the year, losing 49-0 on Nov. 1 at district leader Muenster.
