Billingsley, Robertson finish in top 5 in big meet

Hornets place 4th as a team

SOUTHLAKE—The Miller Grove cross country team took home fourth place as a team in a meet at Southlake Carroll Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Hornets finished behind schools much bigger than them, including Southlake Carroll, Flower Mound Marucus and Keller Timber Creek.

Leading the way for the Hornets was Isaiah Billingsley, who came in third place and finished just one second behind the leader. Billinglsey ended with a time of 15:12.

Just seconds behind him was Kobe Robertson, who finished in fifth place. Robertson’s time of 12:24 was just 13.6 seconds behind the leader.

Lance Davis and Riley Hasten were the next finishers for the Hornets. Davis came in 32nd place with a time of 16:31, and Hasten’s time of 16:48 was good for 40th place.

Tanner Hensely and Anthony Lester were next for Miller Grove. Hensley’s 17:19 finish put him in 53rd place while Lester’s time of 17:53 had him finishing 63rd overall. Other runners for the Hornets were Kavan Smith, who came in 66th place, and Ethan George, who finished 71st.

“I was very pleased with the way that we competed,” head coach Gary Bilingsley said. “We have to keep our focus on our goals and the training.”
