The 2020 Hopkins County Fall Festival annual parade took place Saturday morning in Sulphur Springs. It led from the corner of Broadway and Lee streets to Gilmer and Hinnant streets. Law enforcement, EMS and multiple fire departments, along with civic clubs and a few floats represented Hopkins County.
The parade was shortened this year and followed a different route than previous parades to allow the gathered crowds to socially distance. Enthusiasm and participation was as palpable as in previous years, though, so the annual tradition was kept strong.
Characters at this year’s parade included a dinosaur, a take on Alice in Wonderland enjoying Hopkins County Stew and creepy costumes like Friday’s the 13th’s Freddy Krueger.
A horse and wagon moseyed down the road Saturday morning. They were led by the local Corvette Club and followed by the Jeep Club, riders on ATVs and an early model pickup.
Corner Grub House, BackStory Brewery, Nicholas Custom Homes and other businesses joined Central Baptist Church in the line-up.
