Col. Benjamin Maddox Camp (1839-1936) and his wife Sarah Frances (1840-1922, or Fannie, were portrayed by Tom and Shirley Patchen respectively.

Pat Goggans portrayed the British immigrant Poppie Blackburn ( who decided to stay in Sulphur Springs after six-month trip in the US.

Frances, or Fannie, Thornton (1890-1974) was portrayed by Paula Altenbaumer. Thornton brought the first factory to Hopkins County and produced her own brand of bonnets.

Mariette Lowry Bass (1873-1933), portrayed by Gail Garmon, was a social worker who worked as the Southwestern agent for the Children's Aid Society.

Ronny Glossup portrayed George Bryant Boomer (1836-1893), a well-known businessman who engineered the creation of the Boomer Spur which cuts across the eastern parts of Houston Street and College Street.
