I first became an uncle in 2021. I have a three-yearold nephew, Tray Shawn, and a 21-month-old niece, Janiya Lynn. They are the best. Tray Shawn was born at 33 weeks and weighed four pounds, three ounces, when he was born. He stayed at Children's Hospital in Plano for a month. He likes cars, anything with wheels, Legos, number blocks, and Mrs. Rachel. He also loves it when his Pawpaw makes quacking noises at him and fake sneezes. He has the sweetest smile and the cutest laugh. When I hang out with Tray Shawn, we normally play with his cars and watch Dragon Ball Z. Sometimes we wrestle.

Sulphur Springs has changed and changed again, many times. We have all seen those grainy photos of our square in horse and wagon days. In the 90s, Sulphur Springs became a Main Street City in a program sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission. Through that project, it saw updated signage at business doors, and trash receptacles painted like Holsteins to promote our dairy heritage. Community pride began to grow.

In Hopkins County, we have three busy seasons each year. Busy Season Number Two lasts through graduation season and Father’s Day. Then, when summer sets in, everyone is doing their own thing. Busy season number three begins with the school season, going through the holiday season, and ending on Dec. 31. Get ready, because busy seasons in Hopkins County are not for sissies!

It takes great passion to overcome insurmountable obstacles in your life. When we are passionate about our desires, it becomes much easier to go above and beyond in our actions. Being an overachiever is not just about being passionate though. A person must be adaptable and resilient in the face of obstacles.

Hopkins County Generalogical Society has arranged for a much enjoyed previous speaker to return to the library to give a presentation entitled 'Doaksville, Choctaw Nation and its Relationship with Texas.' The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Genealogy Lbrary at 611 N. Davis St., Sulphur Springs.

It is hard to realize there are coaches in your program that do not have loyalty. If the truth would be known, some coaches and players even want the team to fail. Some assistant coaches and players are concerned only about their future.
