Funeral Service for Luvena Hurley Owens, 94, of Sulphur Springs was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Danny Caldwell officiating and Leldon McKinney and Chris McLarry assisting. Interment followed at Reilly Springs Cemetery with Kameron Smith, Richard McLarry, Greg McLarry, Chris McLarry, Paul Stone, Sean McLarry, David McKinney and Matt Snyder serving as pallbearers and her great-grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Owens passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.

Luvena was born Oct. 7, 1924 in Sulphur Springs to Josiah Alonzo “Lon” and Willie Annis (Craig) Hurley. She married David Williams Owens in Sulphur Springs on March 7, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1987. Luvena retired from H.D. Lee and was a homemaker. She was a member of Reilly Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Smith and husband Jack of Corsicana, Janie McLarry of Sulphur Springs, Barbara McKinney and husband Leldon of Houston, and Paula Stone and husband Leon of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Stephanie Fisher and husband Brian of Houston, Melissa McLarry of Sulphur Springs, Kameron Smith and wife Stacy of Austin, Richard McLarry and wife Mary of Chandler, Greg McLarry and wife Tammi of Sulphur Springs, Chris McLarry and wife Dawn of Flint, Paul Stone and wife Josie of Sulphur Springs, Sean McLarry and wife Stacey of Sulphur Springs, Susan Arrington and husband Jarome of Burnett, David McKinney and wife Natalie of Houston, and Tina Owens of Denton; 26 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Zelma Gaisbauer of Plano; sisters-in-law, Ruby Bain and Sandra Hurley of Sulphur Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Luvena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; son, Gary W. Owens; and eight brothers and sisters.
