Joe Dan Van Wey passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
He was born on May 26, 1940, the son of William Edward and Florence Van Wey. He graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1959 and joined the United States Army, where he served from 1959 to 1962. He later attended Southern Methodist University.
Joe Dan is survived by one brother, Ernest Van Wey; nephew, Will Van Wey; nieces, Stephanie Halbert and Sherry Woodall; great-nephews, Caleb Van Wey and William Van Wey; and great-niece, LaCinda Rogers.
Joe Dan is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Van Wey; sister, Martha Jo Medlin; brothers, William E. Van Wey, Earl Van Wey and Powell Van Wey; and his parents.
