Graveside service for JL Buchanan Jr., 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Buddy Wiggins officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Mr. Buchanan passed away Aug. 13, 2010, in Saratoga, Calif.
JL was born Dec. 25, 1922 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to John Louis (Jack) and Kate Buchanan. He married Susie Buchanan in Sulphur Springs, Texas May 28, 1944. JL proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II from Aug. 24, 1942 to Nov. 18, 1945. He served in the South Pacific. He owned and operated several businesses.
He is survived by his sons, Louis Buchanan of Sulphur Springs, and John Buchanan and wife Patty of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Matthew Buchanan, Andrew Buchanan, Allison Pruitt and husband Jarvis, and Madison Hernandez and husband,Alan; great-grandchild, Jarvis Lee Pruitt Jr.
JL was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil and Gene; and sisters, Sue and Lois.
Although JL spent his last years in California, his wish was always to be buried with his wife, Susie, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
