Jerrel Lynn Beck, 79, went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2019 following an extended illness.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Patsy Beckham Beck; daughter, Rebecca Lynn King and husband John; and two grandsons, Josh and Ryan King of Garland Texas.  Surviving is one brother, Kenneth Ray Beck and wife Janice of Nacogdoches, Texas, and one sister, Martha and husband Gerald Heard of Sulphur Springs, Texas.  Also surviving are three sisters-in-law:  Mary Jo Beck and Edee White of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Cecilia Beck of Tomball Texas.      

Jerrel was preceded in death by his parents, James (J.R.) and Bonnie Faye Beck; sister and brother-in-law Billie and Harold Henry; sister and brother-in-law Joy and Charles Sullivan; and three brothers, James, Wayland Wayne and Johnny Roy Beck.  

He was born May 23, 1940, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and worked for over 40 years at Southern Optical Supply. He was a cattleman and a member of Davis Street Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs for most of his life.

One of Jerrel’s greatest joys was his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play ball. Jerrel was most known for his kind, gentle spirit, keen intellect, heartwarming smile, passion for farming and love for his family.  He will be greatly missed.

His nephews Jimmy, Bobby, Tommy and John Beck, Jason Heard and Shawn Poe will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers include Freddie Millsap, Rickey Orr, Jim Thomas, Phillip Wilburn Sr., Larry Vititow, Charles Murray, Jim Bean and Jay Stonaker.

Funeral services will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in north Hopkins County.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Garland.  The family will also receive visitors at Davis Street Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas following graveside rites
