Memorial service for James H. “Jimmy” Helterbrand Sr., 69, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, formerly of Garland, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Burns officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Jimmy passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
He was born Jan. 19, 1951 in McAlester, Okla., the son of James Henry and Rosa Lee Dupire Helterbrand. He married Bonnie Stibbins on April 17, 1970 in Garland, Texas. Jimmy worked in construction all his life and retired as a superintendent. He also worked for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, retiring after 24 years. He was a firearms instructor, and he was a lifetime member of the Mesquite Lodge #928 and a lifetime member of Shrine.
There will be a special celebration of life at Hella Shrine Center in Rowlett, Texas at a later date.
Jimmy is survived by wife Bonnie Helterbrand; son James Helterbrand Jr. and wife Amanda of Brashear; daughter Sondra Helterbrand Ramirez of Whitehouse, Texas; brother George Helterbrand and wife Debbie of Junction City, Kan.; grandchildren Samantha Helterbrand, Madison Ramirez, Courtnie Helterbrand, Tyler Helterbrand, Jocelyn Helterbrand and Wyatt Helterbrand; great-grandson, Ryden Lovvorn; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Cheyenne Ramirez.
