Gary Michael Bishop, 62, of Emory, passed away suddenly, early Monday morning, Aug. 12, 2019.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at Emory Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Elm Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory.

Gary Michael Bishop was born in Sulphur Springs on March 22, 1957, to the parentage of Marshall and Mary Ola Asbill Bishop.  He followed the Lord in baptism at around the age of 10 in a stock pond in Emory.  He has been a lifetime member of Elm Baptist Church.  Gary graduated from Rains High School Class of 1976, where he loved to play football.  He went on to take two years of classes at Tyler Junior College.  Gary worked hard as a dairyman for 20-plus years.  On Jan. 10, 2006, he married Teresa Kay Lee in Emory.  He then worked and retired after 20 years as county commissioner for Rains County Precinct 3.  And for the last six years, he has driven a truck for Gaston Sanitation.  Gary loved Jesus and his family more than anything.

Survivors include: wife Kay Bishop of Emory; sister Hilda Bishop Ellison and husband Rick of Emory; brother Homer Bishop and wife Kathy of Richmond; daughter Lacey Boyd and husband Chuck, currently stationed in Italy; son Lyndon Bishop of Middletown, Connecticut; children Jamie Hailey, Chris Wright and wife Michelle, and Ashley Wright; grandchildren Taylor, Kayte, Riley, C.J., Rylee, Tinsley, Hays and Keaton; great-granddaughter Brooklynn; many special nieces and nephews; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and mother-in-law, Rosa Lee.
