Funeral services for Ethel Mae Johnson, 72, will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Cory Young officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Clayton, Tyrone Clayton, Laurance Green, Ashton Pruitt, Vincent Johnson and Harry Johnson. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Saturday morning, Aug. 17, 2019 at Tapp Funeral Home.
Ethel Mae Johnson passed away on Monday, Aug. 12, 2019 at her residence in Dallas.
Ethel Mae Johnson was born on May 30, 1947 in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Robert Lee Johnson and Geneva Bolden Johnson. Ms. Johnson worked as a cook for Burton’s and Pitt Grill and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters Debbie (Lagary) Dixson of Dallas and Carla Nweke (Jimmy Davis) of Sulphur Springs; son Kevin Johnson of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Richard Finnie, Robert Finnie, Chaddrick Johnson, Jacobyia Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Terrance Johnson, Kyron Johnson, Kevin Tyrone Johnson Jr. and Christine Cromier; 21 great grandchildren; brothers Harry Johnson of Commerce and Ronny Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; sisters Vernon Reece and Florence Williams of San Bernardino, California, Jeri Finley of Phoenix, Arizona, Sheila Hall of Sulphur Springs and Naomi Johnson of Commerce; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Geneva Johnson; brothers R.L. Johnson and James Edward Johnson; and sister Mae Jewel Dial.
