A D “Smiley” Bell was born July 14, 1958. He was born to A J Sr. and Helen (Dunlap) Bell. He was previously married with two children, Breanna Yager and Colby Mills.
Smiley died peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in Mount Pleasant, Texas after a long battle with bone cancer.
Smiley loved rodeo and anything to do with country life while he was in good health and loved reading the Bible and spending time with family and friends. Smiley attended school in Mount Vernon, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, A J Bell Sr., and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother, Helen Bell, sister, Mary Bell, and brother A J Bell Jr. (Jana Bell). He is also survived by a nephew, Robert Bell, nieces Mary Helen Bell, Tamiko Bell (Miko, Miko Tiko, Malnutrition) and Destiny Bell, and several great-nephews and -nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas. Interment will follow at Denton Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at West Oaks Funeral Home as well as from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
