Graveside service for Bill Bassham Sr., 85, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2019 at Nelta Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Morgan officiating. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Parris, David Gulley, Jimmy Price, Danny Argenbright, Ricky Godbolt, David Reagan and Tony Tanton. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Gentry, Red Fuller, Charlie “Red” Smith, Wayne Moore, Lanny Moore, Ricky Godwin and Jimmy Beck. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Mr. Bassham passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Carriage House Manor.

Bill was born April 12, 1934 in Sulphur Bluff to Clarence and Jewel (Tan-ton) Bassham. He married Shirley Jobe on July 13, 1952 in Cooper, Texas; she preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Betty Moore on Feb. 14, 1997 in Sulphur Springs; she preceded him in death in 2018. Bassham was a dairy farmer and an electrician at the Thermo Mine. In retirement, he drove cars for Ronnie Parris.

He is survived by his sons, Bill Bassham Jr. and wife Cherie of Richardson, Texas, Brett Bassham of Thornton, Texas and Scott Steele of Tyler, Texas; daughter, Stacy Mc-Minn and husband Mike of Sulphur Springs, Texas; grandchildren Ryan Bassham, Brooke Daniel, Colby Steele, Cortni Steele, Jaci Davis, Mikayla Davis and Cassidy Davis; great-grandchildren Wyatt Swatsell, Zoe Bassham, Cora Bassham and Nora Daniel; brothers Jerry Bassham of Nelta, Texas and Larry Bassham, of Overton, Texas; and sister Jeanette Williams of Bogata, Texas.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, James A. (Pete) Bassham and Jimmy D. Bassham.
