Fifteen reports were made from various callers between 8:15 p.m. and 8:29 p.m. Tuesday regarding a reckless driver who was driving the wrong way on westbound Interstate 30 from mile marker 134 to mile marker 139.

Hopkins County Sheriff ’s deputies stopped the 2020 silver Kia SUV at mile marker 141 and reported smelling alcohol from the 32-year-old Yantis man who was driving and the 27-year-old Wills Point woman passenger.

Deputies alleged the woman wasn’t able to answer their questions and “appeared to randomly make statements not pertaining to the deputies’ questions,” according to the arrest report. Deputies further alleged the woman admitted to having drank three or four beers.

During questioning, the woman is reported to have admitted she knew they were traveling the wrong way on the interstate, had done so on purpose and were on their way to the casino.

Both are alleged to have given consent for sobriety testing, which both are reported to have failed. A consent blood draw was conducted on the woman, according to the report, and two breath specimens from the man were reported at .191 each.

Both were booked in on one charge each of driving while intoxicated.
