North East Texas Writers Organization presents The 2019 Autumn Teen Short Story Contest.
Any junior high or high school students, ages 13-18 are eligible to enter short stories of 1,500 words or fewer and will be accepted Sept. 1 through midnight on Nov. 1. There is no fee to enter. Judges will remain anonymous.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three entrants at a special reception to be held Dec. 12. First place will be a cash prize of $75, second place will be $50 and third place will be $35.
The reception is coordinated through the North East Texas Writers Organization and the Franklin County Art’s Alliance at Main Street Gallery in Mount Vernon. A special Middle Earth Gallery teen art exhibit and program (to include 13-year-old author of four books, Jolene Reed) will begin with a meet and greet at 6 p.m. and end with contest winners.
