Hopkins County Sheriff ’s deputies reported a 2011 Dodge Avenger stopped in the travel lane of Hillcrest Drive in Sulphur Springs late Saturday. The 27-year-old Sulphur Springs woman who was the driver and sole occupant of the Avenger allegedly claimed “she had just moved to the area and did not know where she was,” the arrest report read, when asked by a deputy “if something was wrong.”

The deputy cited the odor of marijuana, according to the report, prompting him to ask the woman if she had smoked any marijuana or if there was any in the car. The woman allegedly stated “her friend had smoke in the vehicle, and there was a ‘doobie’ in the vehicle,” the report read.

During a consent search of the car, the deputies allegedly found “an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the center console cup-holder,” which the woman claimed to be her friend’s, according to the report, and that “she only drank ‘hard liquor.’” When asked if she had drank any alcohol earlier, the woman allegedly said she had. The deputy also reported finding in the car two additional empty bottles and one unopened bottle of the same drink.

The woman allegedly failed multiple field sobriety tests and was later reported to blow 0.189 twice on a breathalyzer test.

The woman was arrested on the charge of driving while intoxicated, second offense.
