Sulphur Springs Officer Hoffman was on patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on Brown’s vehicle for a traffic violation and was reportedly aware of the warrants for Brown’s arrest.

Upon making contact, the officer reportedly observed Brown to look similar to a wanted person based on what they knew of the subject. Brown was also allegedly displaying signs of nervousness and asked for her identification.

Brown allegedly told the officer that she did not have any identification and advised that her name was “Jamilya Richardson” with a birthdate of July 1, 1992.

The officer did not believe that Brown was telling the truth and went to his patrol unit to ask dispatch for a photo of the Richardson subject. The photo sent by dispatch reportedly did not match Brown and the officer returned to Brown to ask if she had any sort of identification in the wallet she was holding.

When Brown opened the wallet, the officer reportedly observed an identification card in the wallet. When asked about this ID card, Brown alleged that it was her sister’s.

The officer reportedly advised Brown that the Richardson subject’s drivers license did not match her description, but Brown repeatedly claimed that she was telling the truth.

The officer asked to see the ID card that was in the wallet, but Brown allegedly refused.

Brown was reportedly asked to exit the vehicle due to the officer’s belief that there was further criminal activity taking place.

Brown allegedly refused to exit stating that she was going to wait for her brother who was en route to her location. The officer advised Brown to exit the vehicle numerous times.

Brown then allegedly rolled up her window and fled the scene in her vehicle, driving south on J.D. Franklin Drive towards Melba Street.

Brown reportedly turned onto Melba Street and exited the vehicle fleeing on foot west on Melba Street then behind a house on the corner of Melba Street and J.D. Franklin Drive.

The officer reportedly followed behind on foot.

Brown was allegedly able to jump a fence into the backyard of the corner house until the officer gained ground and caught her.

Brown was placed into custody for transport to the jail and, when asked her name again, admitted to being Justice Brown.

Bond was not set as of press day.
