Winnsboro man leads police on chase after allegedly avoiding Titus warrants

A 37-year-old Winnsboro man led Hopkins County deputies on a manhunt for his warrants out of Titus County, according to a release by police. 

On Sunday at approximately 11:12 p.m., HCSO was called to the 1000 block of CR 2403 to investigate an alleged ongoing assault, according to reports. Once deputies arrived, Jesse Lynn Wellborn, 37 of Winnsboro, allegedly fled the scene on foot, reports said. 

A manhunt ensued involving multiple agencies, police said, and with assistance from DPS, deputies apprehended Wellborn. Wellborn was booked into jail on outstanding warrants on the following: violation of parole out of Austin, assault/ family violence by impeding breath out of Titus County, and assault/ family violence with previous convictions out of Titus County. 

Wellborn remains in jail and is not bond eligible.
