The Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce announced the 2020 winners of the World Champion Hopkins County Stew Contest held Saturday at Buford Park in Sulphur Springs.

Campsite and costume winner this year was site No. 77, Phillip Gabbert, sponsored by VFW Post 8560. Their $200 prize was provided by Super Handy.

The John Chester Award for Super Campsite winner was site No. 111, Wade Juarez, sponsored by Diamond Bar J. Their $250 prize was provided by Sulphur Springs Centre for Dance.

Honorable Mention for Beef Stew was site No. 81, Chris Holt, sponsored by Abboe’s Collision Center.

Third place beef stew winner was the team of No. 350, Jay Johnson and Rosemary Johnson, sponsored by Martin Marietta. Their $100 prize money was provided by State Representative Dan Flynn. Their third-place stew was purchased for $250 by Texas Farm Credit.

Second place beef stew winner was the team of No. 358, Whitney Preas and Wendall Preas, sponsored by B&T’s Tacos & Catering. Their $150 prize money was provided by Hampton Inn. Their second-place stew was purchased for $450 by Texas Heritage National Bank.

First place beef stew winner was the team of No. 123, Brent Williams and Andrea Adeyanjie, sponsored by Bulkley Trucking. Their $300 prize money was provided by C-n-C Pro A/V. Their first-place stew was purchased for $600 by Dr. Liao Orthopedic Center.

Honorable Mention for chicken stew was No. 430, Ethan Boatman and Toby Boatman, sponsored by Toby Boatman Garage Doors.

Third place chicken winner was the team of No. 109, Sue Orwosky and Jamie Young, sponsored by Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Their prize money of $100 was provided by Jiffy Signs. Their third-place stew was purchased for $250 by Summit Dental.

Second place chicken stew winner was the team of No. 133 Jeannie Dickson and Judy Temples, sponsored by Davis Street Baptist Church. Their prize money of $150 was provided by Hampton Inn. Their second-place chicken stew was purchased for $450 by Legacy Ag Credit.

First place chicken stew winner was the team of No. 89, Brad and Leah Irving, sponsored by Ocean Spray Cranberries. Their prize money of $300 was provided by Professional Land & Title and Robinson Bennet Construction. Their first-place chicken stew was purchased for $600 by Legacy Ag Credit.

Honorable Mention for Super Stew Beef was No. 466, Garrett Glass, sponsored by Guaranty Bank & Trust.

Third place Super Stew Beef award was won by No. 57, Tonya and James Ross and Brent McClendon, sponsored by Alliance Bank. Their prize money of $100 was sponsored by Hope Family Fellowship. Their third-place Super Stew Beef was purchased for $300 by Dr. Liao Orthopedic Center.

Second place Super Stew Beef award was won by No. 480, Steve Littlefield and James McMahan, sponsored by RE/MAX Advanced. Their prize money of $250 was sponsored by Moreland Fence. The second-place Super Stew Beef was purchased for $500 by ONCOR.

First Place Super Stew Beef winner was the team of No. 362, Richard Brantley and Ashley Brantley, sponsored by American Towing and Tire. Their prize money of $500 was provided by Peoples Communications. Their winning quart of Super Stew Beef was purchased for $900 by Clayton Homes.

Honorable Mention for Super Stew Chicken was No. 330, Kimberly Kirkland and D’Anne Chaney, sponsored by Net Data.

Third place Super Stew Chicken award was won by No. 484, Kylie Smith and Katey Brown, sponsored by Financial Solutions. Their prize money of $100 was sponsored by Hope Family Fellowship. Their thirdplace Super Stew Chicken was purchased for $300 by Dr. Liao Orthopedic Center.

Second place Super Stew Chicken award was won by No. 117, John Mark McAfee and Bambi McAfee, sponsored by McAfee Farms. Their prize money of $250 was sponsored by First Baptist Church and Bright Star Baking Company. The second-place Super Stew Chicken was purchased for $ 500 by GDC Industrial.

First Place Super Stew Chicken winner was the team of No. 125, LaWanna Hohenberger and Broc Hohenberger, sponsored by Bulkley Trucking. Their prize money of $500 was provided by Circle E Western Wear. Their winning quart of Super Stew Chicken was purchased for $900 by Interstate Body Shop.
