Steve Everett to perform acoustic set Saturday

Body

This Saturday, music lovers will have the chance to see musician Steve Everett, whose recent release “Pick Your Head Up” was named one of the 10 Best Country and Americana Songs to Hear Now by Rolling Stone, when he plays in Sulphur Springs.

Everett will play Texafied Unplugged, a live acoustic show, at Heritage Park (Winniford House, the new indoor facility) on Saturday, Aug. 3. Local favorite Jeb Brooks will open the show at 6:30 p.m. Jadon A. McGraw, Jay Mac and Travis Schendel are also slated to appear.

“At last year’s Texafied JamFest event in October, we had people in from four countries and more than 30 states, but our local turnout was relatively low. The weather was a big reason, for sure, but I also believe that some find it difficult to commit to a two-day music festival of indie artists with whom they’re not familiar,” Event organizer Leah Lair Connor said of Saturday’s event. “Texafied Unplugged…is an excellent opportunity, on a much smaller scale, to hear some of the music and feel the incredible vibe that this event provides. The musicians for Saturday are just incredible people with incredible talent.”

Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the door, and include food and beverages. They’re available online at www.texafiedjamfest.com, and there is an option to buy tickets or to make a onetime donation.

Buy tickets, bring your checkbook, and come to enjoy food, drinks and fabulous music — all for a great cause.

“This year, net proceeds of the JamFest go to Be The Match bone marrow registry, an organization that’s very dear to me and many others, even many right here in Sulphur Springs. One of my best friend’s lives is being saved, literally as we speak, with a bone marrow donor through Be the Match. Texafied Unplugged is an event specifically to boost fundraising, so that in October, when it’s all said and done for this year, we’ll have a significant monetary donation to make a considerable impact on saving lives,” Connor said.

The second annual Texafied JamFest Music Festival will be Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, at Heritage Park in Sulphur Springs. Confirmed artists include Simplified, Of Good Value, Todd Carey, the Novelists, Steve Everett, Bradley Rhodes, Paul Pfau, Amy Gerhartz, David Borne, John Sullivan, Andrew Leahey & the Homestead, Andrea Nardello, Rude Music, K. Bea, Dubb and the Luvv Machines, J.D. Eicher, and Buffaloe and the Heard.
