On Monday afternoon, the Sulphur Springs ISD school board advanced special action regarding the swearing-in of incumbent board members during an open meeting. Oaths of office were administered to the unopposed members, John Prickette, Leesa Toliver and Craig Roberts by Sandra Gibby.
Shortly following the members’ swearing-in, the board recognized Craig Roberts as President, Jason Dietze as Vice President and Kerry Wright as Secretary for reorganization of the board in accordance with the 2022-2023 calendar years.
The board then moved to action in discussing the bond. The results for the bond were canvassed and certified for the May 7 special election; votes came in at a 55 to 44 percent disapproval rating with 1,195 votes against and 958 votes in favor of the bond.
There were new resignations, new personnel and personnel changes as well. Resignations included Sarah Miles, Kinder Teacher Of Barbara Bush; Amy Harden, History Teacher of SSMS; Lory Owen, Science Teacher of SSHS and Wini Ream, SPED Teacher of SSHS.
A special board meeting is set for noon Friday, May 20 at the board room in the administration building.
