Truck driver arrested after leaving scene of accident

Deputies arrested a 43-year-old Houston truck driver Thursday morning for failure to stop and render aid or give information, damage to unattended vehicle greater than or equal to $200 after he allegedly tried to leave the scene of a crash on Interstate 30 near mile marker 130, according to reports.

Deputy Marlow, while sitting in a squad car, allegedly witnessed a crash between a tractor towing a semi trailer and a Nissan Altima, when the semi allegedly unsafely changed lanes and its left rear struck the Nissan in its left front, reports state.

The force of the crash allegedly caused the Nissan to come to a stop beside Marlow’s marked patrol vehicle, the report read.

While the semi stopped near the FM 69 exit, the report read, Marlow stated the semi driver exited his vehicle, walked around it, then returned to his cab and drove away.

Marlow stated it was necessary to leave the scene of the accident to catch up with the semi driver, who he was able to pull over near mile marker 134.

The man was arrested and transported to HCSO, where he remains on a $1,000 bond.
