Trejo, Carmody named top 8th grade students

SALTILLO — Saltillo Independent School District announced the valedictorian and salutatorian of their eighth grade class: Cristian Trejo and Cason Carmody, respectively. The students were asked to provide information about their accomplishments in the seventh and eighth grades in recognition of their achievements.

Valedictorian Cristian Trejo is the son of Fransisca Trejo and Ramiro Moreno. His favorite subjects are math, science and athletics, and he was active in UIL, cross country, basketball and FCA. He earned several cross country medals and earned class favorite seventh place and over 100 AR points. His UIL awards include placing in Chess, Math and Number Sense, and second place team in Maps, Graphs and Charts. He was on the A honor roll and won Mrs. Johnson’s Detective award. Outside school, his interests include running, reading and basketball.

Salutatorian Cason Carmody is the son of Steve and Kelly Carmody. His favorite subjects are math, English and science, and he is involved in UIL and the gifted and talented program. In UIL competition, he ranked second as an individual in mathematics and first with his team. He earned the third-highest math average and A honor roll. His interests include blacksmithing and metalworking, gaming, long-boarding and historical knowledge.
