The Sulphur Springs Summer Day Camp is in full swing, taking local students on field trips and allowing them to participate in many different activities. “We are in love with this camp,” said Site Coordinator Amanda Walker. The camp consists of 35 to 40 kids, offering them an outlet for fun and creativity throughout the summer months.

Beginning on June 6, the kids have experienced some pretty exciting things already. “So far we have visited the planetarium at A&M —Commerce, learned about blueberries thanks to Blueberry Ridge Farm in Mineola, visited with animals at the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, enjoyed a day in the sun at Splash Kingdom Water Park in Greenville and we swim every Friday at the pool thanks to A&M Commerce,” said Walker.

According to Walker, the Summer Day Camp has plenty more adventures to come in the following weeks like visiting the Southwest Dairy Museum, watching a movie at the Bright Star Cinema, bowling at Classic Lanes bowling alley, enjoying a week of sports activities and taking a big trip to the Dallas World Aquarium.

The camp will end on July 22, although the kids will probably feel a little differently about that. “We have made sure to get these kids out of the school setting and have some adventures this year,” said Walker.

“We would love to get some community involvement in our camp,” she added, “if there are businesses that have a fun trip idea please let us know, or if someone wants to donate to trip costs please feel free to reach out to us.” Staff members plan to make the Sulphur Springs Summer Day Camp affordable for everyone to enjoy.
