Red Ribbon Week activities scheduled

Body

Sulphur Springs Independent School District announced Red Ribbon Week activities for all schools at their regular monthly board meeting Monday evening, held at the administration building on Connally Street. Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 26-30. This year’s theme is “Be happy, be brave, be drug free.”

DOUGLASS ECLC & PRIMARY CAMPUSES

• Monday—Can you “spot” everyone who pledges to live a drug-free life? Wear polka dots to show how happy you are to be healthy. Students will receive red ribbons to wear every day and a mint that has the polka-dot theme.

• Tuesday—It would be crazy to think a Wildcat’s actions wouldn’t match their strong mind. Wear crazy hair or mismatched clothes to show you have a mind committed to a great future. Students will receive a sticker that goes along with the theme.

• Wednesday—Wildcats have a bright future full of good choices. Wear neon to show just how bright your future will be. Students will receive a neon bracelet.

• Thursday—The Wildcat spirit means we help with those around us to live a drug-free life. Pick a partner and dress like twins or wear Wildcat spirit colors. Students will receive a Red Ribbon Week pencil.

Goody bags will be made for virtual students, and they will be given a Red Ribbon Week booklet.

Some campuses may participate by making Red Ribbon Week signs for flyers. Lamar will hold a competition for staff members who participate in Red Ribbon Week, and counselors will speak with students about the importance of Red Ribbon Week.
