The Sulphur Springs ISD Board of Trustees will meet for a special session Friday, Aug. 23 at noon to discuss budget amendments to the 2018-2019 updates and changes to state funding as a result of house bill 3.

Board members will take a final look at the 2018-2019 budget and consider amendments, as they prepare to close out the previous school year.

The board will also discuss a slight change to the way school districts’ shares of state funding are calculated. When setting the budget for the 2018-2019 school year, the state comptroller, TEA and SSISD used different property tax values from different years. For 2019-2020 and beyond, all entities will use the most recent final certified 2018 property tax values. This change will ensure uniformity for state funding.

The board may go into executive session in order to discuss and consider personnel to be employed or assigned, acknowledge and accept resignations of personnel, and other related matters.
