Timmy Dean Scott, 55, of Sulphur Springs was arrested during a traffic stop at 1 a.m. Thursday on two counts of possession of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance.

Scott was a passenger in a vehicle reportedly stopped for a traffic violation. The deputy reportedly observed the driver to show signs of bruxism and Scott to show signs of nervousness. The driver reportedly denied consent to search the vehicle and a K-9 was called to the scene. The K-9 reportedly gave a positive alert on the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted.

During the search, deputies reportedly found a glass container with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana between the passenger seat and the center console. They also reportedly found a chip bag containing a small clear baggie of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in the passenger floorboard, along with a small cardboard box that contained a small clear baggie of different colored pills and a small clear baggie with a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

A clear baggie with a large amount of a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine was reportedly located in the passenger seat, along with a small pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana inside a food container. Inside the trunk, deputies reportedly located one syringe that appeared to be loaded with methamphetamine ready for injection inside the vehicle’s trunk. A second syringe was reportedly found outside the vehicle in the grass next to the passenger door. Another syringe was reportedly located in Scott’s jacket pocket. Scott reportedly claimed ownership of all contraband.

The suspected methamphetamine in crystal form reportedly tested positive and showed a weight of over 10 grams including packaging. The suspected methamphetamine in the loaded syringe also field-tested positive with a weight of 1-4 grams including packaging.

Scott was charged with one count of possession of 4-200 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance and one count of possession of 1-4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance, as well as multiple warrants. Bond was set at $30,000, and Scott remained in custody as of press time Friday, according to arrest and jail reports.
