Spooky events headed to Hopkins

Spooky times are coming our way this weekend. Check out the following events to get your fright on this Hallows Eve:

—First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, 116 Oak Ave., will host Trunk or Treat: A Drive-Thru Experience 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, Halloween night. Participants are asked to enter at the corner of Como and Putman streets and follow signage. Each child will receive a full bag of candy and some extra treats. 

—Central Baptist Church, 840 Connally St. in Sulphur Springs, will host Treat Street 2020, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. This is a family friendly trunk-or-treat event. There will be games, candy and lots of fun for the whole family.

—VR Social SS, 317 Springs St. in Sulphur Springs is hosting Halloween Screamfest, 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30-10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. The virtual reality arcade will offer age appropriate scream experiences, an outdoor movie screen with all-night family friendly horror classics, candy and hot cider.

Costumes are highly encouraged, as is bringing chairs and blankets for sitting outside. All proceeds benefit Let Love Live Animal Rescue’s “Hank,” a German shepherd. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/VRSocialTX and LetLove.Live.

— Hopkins County Fall Festival carnival will take place at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 28-31. The carnival will be open 6-10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and noon to midnight Saturday. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Advance tickets are available at Super Handy locations.

— Pickton-Pine Forest VFD stew and chili fundraiser, noon at Pickton community center Saturday Oct. 31. Carry-out is available.
