Janie Lewis, Dona Shaw and Ruthann Ray were at Wesley House for a parade for the residents last Saturday. Lewis reported that there were about 100 cars with signs and balloons, several police, sheriff and EMS vehicles, a tractor and horses.

“It was a lot of fun for everyone,” she said.

Dona Shaw’s and Ray’s mother, Patsy Shaw (Lewis’ sister-in-law), is among the residents there.

“We celebrated Everly’s first birthday on the computer,” said Yvonne Weir, “with all of the family watching and chiming in. She loved all the paper in the sacks. …She really liked the cake, but she was very neat about eating it.” Everly is the daughter of Dustin and Natalie Weir.

“Sarah visited us on Sunday, Yvonne Weir added.

We want to express our appreciation to the anonymous donor who left masks and books for the Tira Food Pantry.

Chip’s brother, John Vaughn, came over Sunday afternoon to see his mother, Grace, and to visit with us all.

I had a phone call from Betty Earlene (Birmingham) Holcomb. She enjoys reading the Tira News and recalls knowing some Watsons from the Tira area. She mentioned a Mr. Watson who was a minister at their Baptist church, where her mother, Mamie Birmingham, played the piano. She lives in the Dallas area but grew up in the Pacio community in Delta county. If you remember Betty or her family, please let me know. She would enjoy visiting with you.

That’s all I know for now. I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to having more to report sometime soon.
