Saltillo ISD recently named its valedictorian and salutatorian of its 2021 graduating class: Anna Reeder and Garrett Tarver.

ANNA REEDER

Valedictorian Anna Reeder is the daughter of Eric and Mandy Reeder and is graduating with a 3.91 GPA. In school, she was involved in varsity basketball, Relay for Life, FCCLA, Beta and UIL. During that time, she earned multiple district and regional honors in basketball and landed district honors in academic UIL. Her hobbies include playing basketball, learning, reading and spending time with friends and family. Reeder plans on attending Paris Junior College to finish her associate degree in psychology and will then transfer to UT-Tyler to receive her bachelor’s or master’s in psychology. She aims to become either a forensic psychologist or pediatric neuropsychologist.

GARRETT TARVER

Salutatorian Garrett Tarver is the son of Jennifer and Richard Tarver and is graduating with a 3.90 GPA. In school, he was involved in Beta, where he served as president, and FCCLA, where he has served in multiple roles. Tarver also participated in varsity cross country, varsity track and varsity baseball. Outside of school, Tarver is an Eagle Scout and involved in Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Leadership. Tarver has earned multiple awards across all levels of BETA, including a third place at the national level and two first places at state. He has also earned district and regional medals in academic UIL and landed on the podium in cross country and track events at district, regional and state levels. Tarver enjoys storm chasing, gardening, baking, eating, socializing, meeting new people and hanging out with friends. He is interested in local government. He plans to attend University of Oklahoma to study meteorology in hopes of becoming a broadcast meteorologist.
