Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County law enforcement and fire department activity from 5:30 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Wednesday included:

POLICE

Tuesday

1 a.m.: A 31-year-old Greenville man was arrested in the 100 block of Jefferson Street on a charge of expired registration. He was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation while driving a green Hyundai SUV. Officer Zach Brown reportedly observed the vehicle registration to have expired in May 2019. The man was released from custody later that day, according to arrest and jail reports.

9:16 a.m.: A 37-year-old Yantis man was arrested at the Hopkins County Sheriff ’s Office on an SSPD warrant for speeding 10% above the posted limit. He was released from jail Wednesday, according to arrest and jail reports.

Monday

8:34 a.m.: Deputies responded to a residence on County Road 1441 in Yantis. A woman reported her son was making threats toward her and her family. A criminal trespass was issued.

2:18 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance or family violence at a residence on County Road 3600 in Weaver. A woman reported her son was threatening and throwing a fit over a computer and other items.

6:40 p.m.: Jacqueline Deann Blalock, 35, of Mount Vernon was arrested at the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office on a probation violation warrant for possession of 4-200 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance. Bond was not set, and she remained in custody as of Wednesday, according to arrest and jail reports.

7:27 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of harassment at a residence on County Road 1170. A woman reported her ex-boyfriend is using her Facebook account and she believes he broke her window.

10:25 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence on County Road 2339. A caller reported someone tried to steal a side-by-side, then called again at 10:30 p.m. to report the man had shown back up at the house trying to get in and then took off. A K-9 search was initiated at 10:53 p.m., but deputies were unable to locate the subject.

Tuesday

7:39 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence on FM 1870. A woman reported two subjects were in her yard. She believed they were trying to get into her truck. A second call was received at 8:43 p.m. The woman reported the two subjects were back, and she believed they were in her truck.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 440 non-emergency phone calls, 111 calls for service and 68 emergency calls. For the period from 5:30 a.m. Monday to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers filed one offense, issued two citations and conducted four inmate transports between facilities, one funeral escort, two special patrols and 36 traffic stops. Seven people were booked into and seven released from county jail, which held 146 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
