Saturday

4:05 a.m.: Gerardo Rubio Martinez, 37, of Sulphur Springs was arrested on a felony charge of assault on a member of family or household with intent to impede breathing or circulation. Officers were dispatched to the location in reference to an assault. A woman reportedly advised Martinez assaulted her by placing his hands around her neck and applying continuous force for approximately 15 seconds. She reportedly stated she was unable to breathe during this time and was afraid she was going to die. She alleged Martinez also struck her in the face and scratched her nose. Officers reportedly observed a scratch on the woman’s nose. Martinez was taken into custody. Bond was set at $30,000. and Martinez remained in jail as of press time Monday, jail and arrest reports read.

Friday

4:35 p.m.: Ricky Lynn Hunt, 40, of Sulphur Springs was arrested at the Lynaugh Unit of TDCJ in Fort Stockton on a bench warrant and transported to the Hopkins County jail, arrest reports read.

Saturday

10:03 a.m.: Deputies were dispatched to the Cherry Grove Church in reference to a report of theft or possible theft. A man reported a woman jumped a fence and took a gun out of a vehicle in the pasture.

10:58 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to a report of a noise disturbance on County Road 2174. A woman reported a neighbor was playing loud music.

11:32 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to a report of a disturbance or family violence on State Highway 154 south. A woman reported her daughter’s ex-boyfriend was hitting her. Another caller reported the man was the boyfriend of a friend.

12:26 a.m.: Deputies were dispatched to a report of a noise disturbance on State Highway 154 south. A woman reported a group of people next door was being loud.

Sunday

12:32 p.m.: Deputies were dispatched to a report of harassment on County Road 1443. A man reported his son was being harassed by his ex-wife.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 353 non-emergency phone calls, 91 calls for service and 56 emergency calls. For the 48-hour period from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, officers issued four citations, filed two offenses and conducted 31 traffic stops. Five people were booked into and four people released from county jail, which held 166 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Monday.
