8:35 a.m.: DPS troopers arrested Stephanie Rena Bean, 47, of Texarkana after a routine traffic stop near the 141 mile marker of Interstate 30 led troopers to allegedly observe an open container of Mad Dog 20/20 in the center console of the vehicle, according to reports. The woman allegedly gave consent to search her person, where troopers allegedly found suspected methamphetamine in her pockets and suspected marijuana in a black backpack in the car, reports read. The woman was charged with possession of a schedule one controlled substance less than 1 gram, possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and driving while intoxicated open container and later released, according to records.

8:38 p.m.: Deputies arrested a 25-year-old Sulphur Springs man after a routine traffic stop on State Highway 19 found he had outstanding warrants for criminal non-support out of Hunt County, according to reports. Deputies also arrested the man’s passenger, a 30-year-old Sulphur Springs man, who had outstanding warrants out of Hopkins County and the city of Sulphur Springs for failure to maintain financial responsibility, two counts of no drivers license when unlicensed and one count of child unrestrained by a safety belt.

9:30 p.m.: DPS troopers arrested Sherry Leigh Scallions, 39, a Canton department of family and protective services caseworker, on charges of driving while intoxicated first offense, according to reports. After receiving six calls about a one-vehicle accident near the 110 mile marker of Interstate 30, according to 911 call logs, troopers arrived on-scene to allegedly find Scallions exhibiting signs and indicators of intoxication, according to reports. Scallions was transported to the hospital for care, where she allegedly refused a blood sample, according to reports. She was taken to jail without incident and later released, according to records.

Saturday

5:17 p.m.: DPS troopers arrested a 23-year-old Texarkana man and a 24-year-old Hope, Arkansas woman after a routine traffic stop at the 116 mile marker of Interstate 30 and allegedly detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The man allegedly admitted that a bag in the backseat containing marijuana was his, and both were taken into custody and later released, according to records.

8:25 p.m.: DPS troopers arrested a 27-year-old Grand Prairie man on charges of possession of a schedule two controlled substance from 4 to 200 grams after a routine stop near the 124 mile marker of Interstate 30 found the man to be “extremely nervous,” according to reports. Troopers allegedly observed a container for THC oil in plain view and upon a probable cause search allegedly found THC gummies as well as a small amount of loose marijuana. The man was taken into custody without incident and later released, according to records.

2:14 p.m.: Deputies arrested a Pickton husband and wife after a routine traffic stop on State Highway 11 East at Taylor Street in Como allegedly revealed digital scales, suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to reports. The woman was booked on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia while the man was booked on charges of display of fictional or altered license or insignia, and both were later released, according to records.

10:30 p.m.: DPS troopers arrested a 27-year-old Greenville man after receiving calls for a reckless driver near the 110 mile marker of Interstate 30. After locating the man, troopers allegedly observed multiple open cans of hard seltzer in the center console, and the man allegedly failed standardized field sobriety tests, reports read. With an alleged blood alcohol content breath test of 0.22, the man was taken to jail without incident and later released, according to records.

10:48 p.m.: Officers arrested Galen Jaheim Wright, 18, of Sulphur Springs after allegedly observing him walking the wrong way down the street near Pacific Park, according to reports. Wright allegedly “would not stop and obey commands,” and police allegedly observed his left arm extended away from him in a throwing motion, reports read. When police attempted to put cuffs on him, he resisted, they said, and they used the minimum amount of force necessary to secure Wright, they said. After searching the area for any objects Wright may have thrown, police allegedly found suspected crack cocaine, weighing approximately 3.6 grams, reports read. Wright was taken to jail without incident, where he remains on a total of $20,000 worth of bonds, according to records.

2:32 p.m.: Police arrested a 56-year-old Dallas man after receiving calls he was allegedly “driving around looking for his dog, trying to get kids to catch it and bring it to his vehicle,” according to reports. After police located the man in his vehicle, they found he allegedly had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath and exhibited indicators of being intoxicated, reports read. The man advised he was looking for his sister’s dog, according to reports. After determining the man to be a danger to himself or others, he was taken to jail and booked on charges of public intoxication and later released, according to reports.

9:50 p.m.: Police arrested a 30-year-old Sulphur Springs man and a 19-year-old Sulphur Springs woman during a routine traffic stop in the 200 block of Lamar Street. The man, they found, had outstanding warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility, no driver’s license and defective headlamp, and police gave him a citation for disorderly conduct offensive language when he allegedly began to “shout profanities in earshot of the public,” reports read. The woman also had outstanding warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility and no drivers license, reports read. Both were taken to jail without further incident and later released, according to records.

9:11 p.m.: A 32-yearold Sulphur Springs man was arrested on charges of operating a bicycle without a headlamp in the 500 block of Lamar Street and was taken to jail without incident. He was later released, according to records.

Sunday

12:31 a.m.: While performing a walk-through of a bar located at 105 North Davis Street, police allegedly saw a 24-yearold Sulphur Springs man who “bumped into three different people stumbling and staggering around,” reports read. The man allegedly exhibited several signs of intoxication and was determined to be a danger to himself and others and was booked on charges of public intoxication without incident and later released, according to records.

2:40 a.m.: Police arrested a 22-year-old Commerce man on charges of driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content over 0.15. Police initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of College Street after allegedly observing the man accelerate excessively, according to reports. The man allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication and showed blood alcohol content breath test results of 0.191 and 0.195, reports read. He was taken to jail without incident and later released, according to records.

12:38 a.m.: Police arrested a 24-year-old Sulphur Springs man on charges of driving while intoxicated near the 400 block of Connally Street after police performed a routine traffic stop and allegedly observed the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle, reports read. The man allegedly admitted to consuming “a couple of beers,” and blood alcohol content breath measurements were 0.12 and 0.11, according to police. The man was taken to jail without incident and later released, according to records.

11:55 p.m.: Police arrested a 22-year-old Sulphur Springs man after a routine traffic stop at Shilo Road and Loop 301 found he had an outstanding warrant for consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to reports.

Monday

1:29 a.m.: Police arrested a 39-year-old Sulphur Springs man for public intoxication after being called to the Spring Valley apartments in the 800 block of Putman Street for a subject attempting to drive away, according to reports. After locating the subject, police allegedly observed the man to have a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and determined him to be a danger to himself and others. He was taken to jail without incident and later released, according to records.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 479 non-emergency phone calls, 140 calls for service and 78 emergency calls. For the 72-hour period from 5:30 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday, officers issued five citations, filed three offenses and conducted seven special patrols, three funeral escorts and 49 traffic stops. Twenty-two people were booked into and 14 released from county jail, which held 151 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Monday.
