The following reports are based on logs documenting calls received by Hopkins County emergency communications staff from 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Tuesday

10:48 a.m.: A Sulphur Springs woman requested a welfare check on someone in a wheel chair who was in the middle of the road at the Broadway Street overpass.

10:58 a.m.: A possible gas leak was reported in Pickton on FM 369 south. The caller stated they thought a tractor had hit the line.

1:53 p .m.: A Brashear man reported his daughter was spitting on him and verbally threatening him.

2:02 p.m.: A Como woman reported someone used her driver’s license number and bank account.

2:10 p.m.: A Cumby man who was driving down Interstate 30 westbound claimed the vehicle in front of him was slamming on their breaks in an effort to make him purposefully rear end the vehicle.

2:34 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs man claimed to have on video someone “slinging” rocks at a building from their car.

5:28 p.m.: A Como woman requested assistance in putting batteries and an SD card in game cameras.

6:37 p.m.: Physical and verbal disturbance was reported by a Cumby man who claimed no weapons and that the guy wanted to leave.

Wednesday

7:48 a.m.: Logged as a missing person or runaway, a Sulphur Springs man reported his 15-year-old granddaughter “took off in his car.”

12:11 a.m.: A Sulphur Bluff school reported a student fell out of a swing.

12:36 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs man reported a man came out of his house with a shotgun, and he had video of the incident.

3:06 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs woman reported a man was harassing and threatening her.

3:15 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs man wanted to speak to an officer for help with a gun application.

4:54 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs woman reported her brother possibly had her wallet.

7:54 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs man said he thought someone was hunting on his property.

9:23 p.m.: A possibly confused person was reported at the Valero station on Shannon Road and possibly needed help.

Thursday

4:10 a.m.: A Sulphur Springs woman requested an escort. She was walking on Interstate 30 westbound to a gas station and was scared she would be hit by a car.

6:08 a.m.: A woman at the westbound rest area in Cumby reported a rest area worker walked in on her while she was using a bathroom stall.

12:50 p.m.: A Cumby woman reported someone was leaving threatening messages on her phone.

1:19 p.m.: An anonymous Sulphur Springs caller reported someone was holding him hostage in his room. The call was logged as 911 abuse, and no additional details were available.

4:02 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs woman reported she lost a silver cross at Murphy’s in the Walmart parking lot.

4:30 p.m.: The possible theft of $3,200 was reported by a Brashear woman.

5:18 p.m.: A man was reported asking for money at a west Industrial Drive intersection in Sulphur Springs.

7:47 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs man reported two daughters, a 12- and a 15-year-old, were fighting.

9:19 p.m.: A Sulphur Springs woman reported another driver told her that he had called the cops on her. No additional information was available.

Hopkins County communications operators answered 921 non-emergency calls, 164 calls for service and 160 emergency calls. Officers filed three offenses and conducted one funeral escort, four inmate transport between facilities, 38 traffic stops and two special patrols. Thirteen people were booked into and nine released from county jail, which held 192 inmates at 5:30 a.m. Friday.
