Practicing with Fire

Although several concerned citizens called in a structure fire this weekend north of Como, it was just a test: Pickton-Pine Forest and Saltillo volunteer fire departments gathered at an abandoned house to train on structure fire response this past Saturday. “Our departments are better ready to serve our communities,” Pickton-Pine Forest Chief Trey Thompson said. “We hope to always be a helping hand in times of emergency.” The chiefs are grateful to the landowner, Juan Monterroso, for donating his property and encourage those in their community to get involved by contacting their local VFDs.
