Sulphur Springs police are searching for suspects in an ongoing series of car break-ins, according to detective Sergeant Brian Shurtleff.

Between March 22 and 25 during both daylight and nighttime hours, Sulphur Springs residents experienced a series of four car break-ins, Shurtleff said.

"In these cases, we're talking 90s-model trucks where they had probably used a screwdriver or something similar to start the ignition," Shurtleff said. Shurtleff stated an individual or individuals took these trucks on a "joy ride" and left the vehicles a short distance away, damaging the ignition in the process.

SSPD advises citizens to lock their vehicles while not in use and remove valuables from vehicles, police said. Anyone with information regarding these offenses is urged to contact SSPD at 903-885-7602 or Crime Stoppers at 903-885-2020.
