Police are searching for a suspect after a vehicle pursuit left a Sulphur Springs Police officer with minor injuries Friday. At approximately 7:15 p.m. Friday,

At approximately 7:15 p.m. Friday, SSPD officer Zach Brown attempted to stop a vehicle on Carter Street, according to police chief Jason Ricketson. However, the vehicle refused to yield and initiated a pursuit at a high rate of speed, police said.

The pursuit continued onto Elm Lane, where Officer Brown lost control of his patrol vehicle, striking a telephone pole, police said. The suspect vehicle continued onto Whitworth Street before losing control of his vehicle on Lilly Circle and colliding with a home, police said.

After crashing, the suspect fled on foot, police said.

Officer Brown was treated for minor injuries, and those in the home sustained no injuries, Ricketson said.

Although police now have the suspect vehicle—a black Chrysler 300—they do not have a clear description of the person driving the vehicle and are looking for the public’s help in identifying any information that may lead to the resolution of this crime, Ricketson said.

Those with information are encouraged by SSPD to contact the Sulphur Springs Police Department at 903-885-7602 or Crime Stoppers at 903-885-2020 with any information.

An investigation is ongoing, according to police, and no additional details were available as of press time Monday.
