Body search allegedly reveals meth hidden

A Sulphur Springs man allegedly hid methamphetamine between the cheeks of his buttocks in an attempt to evade police, according to police reports. 

At approximately 11:47 p.m. on Saturday evening, Sheriff's deputies pulled over Paul Douglas Merrell, 52, in the 5000 block of FM 2285 on warrant service, according to reports. 

When conducting the pat down and strip search of Merrell, police allege they found a substance they suspected to be methamphetamine "concealed between the cheeks of his buttocks," according to reports. 

The suspected methamphetamine allegedly weighed .76 grams, police stated. 

Merrell was booked in on his original warrant, violation of parole deadly conduct, as well as a new charge of possession of a schedule one controlled substance less than one gram. He was held on $30,000 worth of bonds and released within 24 hours, according to jail records.
