Police ask citizens to lock doors after car break-ins

According to the Sulphur Springs Police Department, city residents experienced a spate of vehicle break-ins over the weekend. All reports given here are taken from incident reports, which are reports made without corresponding arrests for a crime.

On Friday afternoon, a resident registered the unauthorized use of their Toyota, according to reports. 

On Sunday before dawn, the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle took place in the 100 block of Park St. East, according to reports. 

On Sunday morning, firearms were taken from a vehicle in the 400 block of Van Sickle Street, according to reports. 

On Monday slightly before noon, a burglary of a habitation took place in the 1400 block of Holiday Drive in which firearms were taken, according to reports. 

According to police, all entries into cars occurred when vehicles were unlocked. 

Police suggest to lock vehicles when not in use. 

“These are usually crimes of opportunity for the criminal. Let's make it harder for them,” police said in a Facebook post.
