Pledges at $20k for first week of HCUW campaign

Panda Express to host fundraiser

Hopkins County United Way held their first report meeting for the 2020 fundraising campaign, which was held at the AgriLife Extension office Tuesday morning. They reported campaign pledges totaling $20,406.18 in the first week.

“We look forward to adding to this number at next week’s meeting,” said Executive Secretary Susan Berning.

To increase the overall total of funds that will be distributed to 19 Hopkins County nonprofit organizations, Panda Express, 150 East Shannon Road in Sulphur Springs, will host a fundraising event 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20. The store will donate 20% of event sales to Hopkins County United Way.

Customers of Panda Express are asked to enter the promo code 317614 during online checkout at order. pandaexpress.com. Those ordering in person should show a digital or paper version of their fundraising flyer upon check out.

“We are grateful for the opportunity they have given us to raise money for Hopkins County United Way,” Berning said.

The next HCUW report meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at the Extension office, 1200 Houston St. in Sulphur Springs.
